Mona Lake Geocache

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Very close to the hide out we couldn’t find was Mona Lake Geocache so we figured we could hit that one real quick before we called it a night. It was a little difficult to find in the dark with nothing but a couple flashlights for illumination, but we found it.

Stix VI Just hiding out

Monday, September 29th, 2008

We didn’t log Stix VI Just hiding out last time we tried it, but we did try it once before without any luck. Unfortunately, even with the extra eyes tonight we didn’t have any better luck :( .

Dead Drop #5

Monday, September 29th, 2008

There seems to be an entire series of “Dead Drops,” though at this point in time, Dead Drop #5 is the only one we’ve done. We found this one relatively quickly with the number of eyes we had looking for it and got the information we needed from it.

This was our 80th find in our first month of caching!!

Duck Hunt #2 – Rosie Duck

Monday, September 29th, 2008

After we left the Pine Park cache we stopped and let the Moores do the TV 38 cache. Once we left that, we went to the next closest cache. As we got closer we noticed that while the cache we were chasing may have been close “as the crow flies,” on the road we had to go another route. We redirected to Duck Hunt #2 – Rosie Duck being that it was right on the way. The duck wasn’t identical to the last Duck Hunt we did so it took a little longer to find it, but find it we did.

Pine Park Cache

Monday, September 29th, 2008

We started out the trip in the rain with Moore Adventures at the Pine Park Cache. We parked in the wrong lot so we had to walk a little longer, but it probably wasn’t too much longer. We took nothing and left nothing.

Just Chillin’

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

One of the few remaining caches near home that we haven’t done is Just Chillin’… so we stopped by there real quick to cap off the night. A fairly easy find as there weren’t many places to hide the container near the coordinates. We took a golf ball for Brendan and left behind a toy car.

Along the river!

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Following the disappointment at zap, we moved on to Along the river! This was a decent hike into the woods following a trail next to the river (hence the cache name). We found it in short order and left behind a toy car while taking a couple of purple beads Haylee wanted. Once we got back near the van, there was some desire to climb the nearby hill. It wasn’t as steep as the one at vantage point, but it was a decent climb.

Zap!

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Started the night with the Moores at Zap! This is a micro that requires a fair amount of stealth. There were a few people around, so we didn’t spend a lot time there. Unfortunately, we didn’t find it.

Veterans Memorial Park Tribute Cache

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

We had an epiphany today about the Veterans Memorial Park Tribute Cache. We weren’t looking for a container or an actual set of coordinates, we had to use the hints along with the item at the first set of coordinates to get the next set of coordinates… often called an offet cache. So we went and tried to figure it out. After completing the puzzle, we came up with coordinates that were about 1.1 miles away… well outside the park. We double and tripple checked our numbers, but didn’t come up with anything better. The hint for the second set didn’t really help all that much either. And without being able to find the cooridnates for the second place, the hint for the third didn’t make much sense. The hint for point four, which gave us the coordinates for the fifth and final place, made more sense. I’m pretty sure we found the right place and got the coordinates for the log book. We couldn’t, however, actually locate the container with the log book in it.

Veterans Memorial Park Tribute Cache

Friday, September 5th, 2008

After Nothside multi it we decided to take a shot at Veterans Memorial Park Tribute Cache even though it was dark outside. We parked in the recommended parking lot and starting making our way to the first point. After a decent hike, we made it to the corrdinates. Once there we noticed that they are doing quite a bit of work around that area. We looked for a while, but never did find anything. It could be either because of the darkness or the construction, not sure which.
