Agnew Rest Area TB Campsite

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

In the same rest stop as the duck was Agnew Rest Area TB Campsite. It was a little deeper into “the bush” than most and there were no trails that went nearby it, but we found it nonetheless. We dropped off Naniloa Napa’a travel bug and picked up the Sadie girl geocoin copy (not an actual coin, just a laminated piece of paper with the coin’s number on it).

Duck Hunt # 5 – Duck Duck Dew

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Next up was Duck Hunt # 5 – Duck Duck Dew. When we found the location that seemed probable, we started probing with a nearby stick. When we finally found the cache, we discovered that the duck was detached from the container. Not sure if we did that to it or not, we reported it needing maintenance.

Update: Band of Bradys contacted us and told us that the duck was broke before we got there but the cache will only be there for a couple more weeks before they close the rest stop for the winter so their just gonna leave it until then.

troll under the bridge

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

After the lakeside cache, we went on to troll under the bridge. We were literally crawling under the walkway but had no luck in finding it.

lakeshore woods

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

We finally decided that we had traveled south enough so we went to the closest cache to us, lakeshore woods, with the intention of working our way back northward. This cache is now our most southern find.

Always in Grand Haven

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

We still weren’t sure where we were going on this nice October Sunday afternoon, but as we drove by Always in Grand Haven we figured we should probably go grab it real quick. Now that we understand how Light Pole caches work, this was a nice easy and quick park and grab.

Dog Walk Hide #4

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

There used to be 4 “dog walk” caches between Broadway Ave. and Maple Island Rd on the Musketawa trail. Unfortunately, #2 and #3 disappeared before we started caching so we never got the chance to try to find them. We did, however, find Dog Walk Hide #4 today. All told, we rode 10.5 miles today (including a couple laps around the parking lot)!

Dog Walk Hide #1

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

We went for a bike ride along the Musketawa bike trail today so we stopped and did Dog Walk Hide #1. It was a nice October day for a bike ride.

Tee’d Off

Friday, October 10th, 2008

This is another attempt for tonight that we’re only logging on this site. It seems we didn’t give up on Crossing Hoffma soon enough because by the time we made it to Tee’d Off it was way to dark to look and flashlights don’t help all that much. It ended up being a pretty dark walk back to the van.

Onward and Upward

Friday, October 10th, 2008

It’s really painful to log Onward and Upward as a Did Not Find because it’s not our fault at all. In fact, we’re only logging it on our site and not on geocaching.com. We got to pretty close to where the cache is when a group of teenagers came by. Most of them were smoking and they seemed to be under age. It would appear they were just hiding out in the woods. Anyway, it seemed unwise to look for the cache in their field of view (and it had to be within view of where they were) so we moved on.

Hoff N Hide

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

The second cache we did in the park was Hoff N Hide. This one was a slight hike into the woods, but not too bad. We took a battery case and left behind the the White Jeep Travel Bug “Ardella”. There was another cache in the park, but it was a 2.5 mile multi and it was getting too late to do that one. We’ll have to head back that way another night.
