Thirsty “T.O.M.”

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

After we picked up Haylee, we did one last cache on the way home: Thirsty “T.O.M.”. We tried to guess what it could stand for on the way there and couldn’t quite figure it out. Once we rounded to the corner, it became pretty obvious. A fairly easy find… even in the dark. Also a creative hide.

The Liberation of Marcia Brady

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

After Bobby’s hero, we went to pick up Haylee. There was one right around the corner that we couldn’t do on our way out because the park was in heavy use, so we stopped to do it. As we pulled into the park, there were some kids (at least we assume they were kids… they were certainly acting like it) playing with their cars in the grassy area. As we pulled in, they left (I’m sure we scared them off). A nice local guy came to check out what all the rucus was. At first he thought it was us, but once we explained what we were doing, he was very understanding. He mentioned that he recently did a fox hunt using ham radio. Not sure what that is, but it may be interesting…

Anyway, we found The Liberation of Marcia Brady without too much trouble even though it was quite dark outside. We took nothing and left nothing… just happy to have the find.

Bobby’s Hero

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

By the time we got to Bobby’s Hero, it was getting quite dark. We searched with our flashlights in what turned out to be the wrong area. We found it after we had all but given up on it. At the time we thought that was going to be our last stop, so it was nice to finish on a high note. We took nothing and left nothing.

Burbs Cache

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

After the lack of success at the dino we stopped for dinner. We then briefly tried a multi-cache that I’m not going to count at all as it was one we figured we wouldn’t have much luck on and almost didn’t even try. Our next actual stop was the Burbs Cache. A fairly easy find, though the next person may not think it’s quite as easy ;) . We took nothing and left a toy car.

Dino cache

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

After finding the travel bug in the cemetary, we went in to the village of Spring Lake and checked out the Dino cache. Our final stop before dinner was fruitless, but the GPS was way off and we were both too hungry to spend a lot of time looking. There were also about 100 of the items the hint said to look for laying on the ground :) .

Grave Digger’s Garage

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

We made a quick stop at another cemetary cache: Grave Digger’s Garage. While we had to drive through the cemetary to get to it, I think this is the furthest away from a grave site we’ve found a cemetary cache. We found the YSB #4 travel bug and left behind a toy car. Haylee is gonna love the school bus when she sees it!

Bayou Meadows Cache

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

We moved on the the Bayou Meadows Cache once we left the bridge. A fairly easy find. We took nothing and dropped off the MICHAEL AND BETH travel bug.

bridge over troubled waters

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

After our dissapointment at the pavilion in Fruitport, we went to the bridge over troubled waters. We took the name literally as a hint where to find the cache so parked a little bit further away than we had to, but it was a nice quick find. We took a bandaide holder with a couple bandaides and left a toy car.

Treasure of the lost pavillion

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Our childless evening started in Fruitport with the Treasure of the lost pavillion. It was quite muckey down by the coordinates, but we were unable to locate the treasure at either the original coordinates or the updated coordinates found in the logs left by another cacher. A sad start to our evening.
