After the Veterans park, Jeff and Jamie had to head out, but we continued on to M.E.R.E.S. Lone Pine. We tried the other night and didn’t have any success, but after that we got a helpful hint from “paul8178″ it was much easier. We found it w/out too much trouble and took a toy car that Haylee picked out rather quickly and left behind a lego. Unforutnately, we missed the travel bug that was in it earlier in the day as somebody else beat us to it.

We had an epiphany today about the Veterans Memorial Park Tribute Cache. We weren’t looking for a container or an actual set of coordinates, we had to use the hints along with the item at the first set of coordinates to get the next set of coordinates… often called an offet cache. So we went and tried to figure it out. After completing the puzzle, we came up with coordinates that were about 1.1 miles away… well outside the park. We double and tripple checked our numbers, but didn’t come up with anything better. The hint for the second set didn’t really help all that much either. And without being able to find the cooridnates for the second place, the hint for the third didn’t make much sense. The hint for point four, which gave us the coordinates for the fifth and final place, made more sense. I’m pretty sure we found the right place and got the coordinates for the log book. We couldn’t, however, actually locate the container with the log book in it.
